PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a hollow particle having a surface-modified silica shell which has a function of selectively adsorbing a specific solution; and a production method thereof.SOLUTION: A hollow particle is composed of a silica shell having pores with 2-20 nm pore size detected from gas adsorption isotherm in the shell. At least a part of outer surface or inner surface of the silica shell is hydrophobized or hydrophilized by a surface modifier. A production method of the hollow particle with the silica shell comprises dispersing the hollow particle composed of the silica shell in an organic solvent in which a silane coupling agent or alcohol is dissolved, and heating the dispersion, so that at least a part of the outer surface or inner surface of the shell is hydrophobized or hydrophilized by the surface modifier. |
