摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To further optimize the energy level of a metal complex.SOLUTION: A metal complex has a tridentate terpyridine ligand that is coordinated to a transition metal ion and has pyridine structures on both sides of a pyridine structure having a predetermined functional group, in which the pyridine structures on both sides have an electron-donating functional group that has electron-donating ability compared to the predetermined functional group. The metal complex is manufactured by: a ligand synthesizing step of bonding a pyridine derivative having the predetermined functional group and one or more types of pyridine derivative including one or more electron-donating functional group that has electron-donating ability compared to the predetermined functional group, to thereby synthesize the tridentate terpyridine ligand having the electron-donating functional group in the pyridine structures on both sides; and a complex forming step of forming a metal complex containing an anionic complex in which the synthesized tridentate terpyridine ligand is coordinated to a transition metal, and a counter cation attached to the anionic complex.
