A simple large-volume ink supply device, which is an ink supply system comprising a two ink-tank system of an on-carriage ink tank, which is integrated with a print head, and a changeable ink tank for filling, wherein the ink tank for filling is arranged above the print head, a head-pressure control mechanism, for controlling the head-pressure which the ink in the ink tank for filling applies to the print head, is provided inside the on-carriage ink tank, and if the allowed range for negative pressure fluctuation in a liquid chamber which is connected to the print head is ±p mmH2O, it is a fundamental condition that the height of the ink tank for filling is within ±p mm, and thus ink is supplied, from the ink tank for filling to the on-carriage tank, by just the head pressure and the negative pressure. |
