The device (1) has a drive i.e. linear drive, provided with a band-shaped element (2), which comprises one or multiple conductors (3), an electric energy supply device (4) supply electric energy to the band-shaped element and an electric energy extraction device (5) for extracting electric energy from the band-shaped element. The supply device and the extraction device are spaced apart from each other along the band-shaped element. The extraction device comprises a converter device (6), which converts current and/or voltage. An energy storage (9) is attached to the converter device.
