PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hardness tester capable of achieving highly accurate calibration processing without causing an artificial error or bias.SOLUTION: A hardness tester comprises: a test force load part 6 for loading a test force to an indenter 4; an electronic balance 3 for measuring a real test force applied to a sample S; an XYZ stage 2 for moving the electronic balance 3 in a vertical direction; a height detection part 7 for detecting the height of a position where the indenter 4 contacts with the sample S; and control means (CPU 11) for calibrating the test force. The control means includes: calculation means (CPU 11) for calculating a parameter for obtaining a prescribed real test force on the basis of the real test force measured by the electronic balance 3; and determination means (CPU 11) for determining whether or not the measured real test force and the detected height are within prescribed ranges, respectively, after the indenter 4 is pushed into the surface of the sample S by the test force based on the calculated parameter. When it is determined that both of them are within the prescribed ranges respectively, the calibration of the test force is completed. |
