PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a modifying catalyst for tar-containing gas which converts tar-containing gas such as crude gas, refined gas, or the like which is generated when carbonaceous raw materials such as coal, biomass, and the like are pyrolytically decomposed, contains tar composed of heavy chain hydrocarbon, condensation polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon, and the like, and also contains hydrogen sulfide at high density into a light chemical substance such as carbon monoxide, hydrogen, and the like highly efficiently and stably in the presence of a catalyst, a method for manufacturing the same, and a modifying method for the tar-containing gas.SOLUTION: A modifying catalyst for tar-containing gas is a composite oxide represented by ANiBO, wherein A is a metal element selected from at least one type of La, Ce, Ca, Sr, and Ba, B is a metal element selected from at least one type of Co, Fe, Ti, Zr, V, Nb, Ta, Cr, Mo, Re, and W (provided that LaNiFeOis excluded), x satisfies 0.1≤x≤1, and the unit lattice of the composite oxide has a perovskite structure. |
