PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell system capable of improving a humid condition of a fuel cell, and a method for operating the same.SOLUTION: The fuel cell system comprises: a fuel cell 10; a coolant pump 41 for circulating a coolant into a coolant passage 13 of the fuel cell 10; ECU 60; a battery 53; and a voltage sensor 54 for detecting an amount of charge of the battery 53. When a degree of humid of the fuel cell 10 is estimated that it is lower than a predetermined value, the ECU 60 switches from a first output control for controlling an output of the fuel cell 10 in response to a requested output to a second output control for controlling the output of the fuel cell 10 so that the output is higher than the requested output, when the amount of charge of the battery 53 detected by the voltage sensor 54, is equal to or higher than a predetermined amount, the ECU 60 raises the rotational speed of the coolant pump 41 while performing the second output control, and when the amount of charge of the battery 53 detected by the voltage sensor 54, is lower than the predetermined amount, the ECU 60 charges the battery 53 while performing the second output control. |
