PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle type discrimination system using a distance measuring sensor capable of performing vehicle discrimination, for example, between automobiles and motorcycles with high accuracy, in a gate device of a mixture parking lot in which automobiles (four-wheeled vehicles and the like) and motorcycles are parked in the same parking area.SOLUTION: A vehicle type discrimination system using a distance measuring sensor includes: a parking lot 10 in which a plurality of types of vehicles can be parked; a ticket-vending machine 13 (a parking fee processing machine) installed at an installation place of a gate operation machine 11 of the parking lot; a vehicle stop area 12 (a vehicle detection area) set to the installation area of the ticket-vending machine; distance measuring sensors 21A, 21B for measuring a distance related to a vehicle present within the vehicle stop area; and a vehicle type discrimination unit 22 for discriminating its vehicle type on the basis of distance data on the vehicle measured by the distance measuring sensors. |
