PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the seizure resistance of a cast iron material subjected to nitriding treatment.SOLUTION: A high strength sliding material includes a compound layer 4 formed on the sliding face of a base material 1 made of cast iron having a structure composed of graphite 2, ferrite and pearlite. Lubricating oil is forcedly infiltrated 5 into the compound layer 4.
