PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide: a rubber composition for a strip layer between a bead apex or breaker/a ply, in which high mileage can be improved while excellent mechanical strength is maintained or improved; and a pneumatic tire using the rubber composition.SOLUTION: A rubber composition for a strip layer between a bead apex or breaker/a ply includes: a natural rubber; carbon black; an amphoteric compound that has an acidity and basic functional group, wherein a content of the carbon black is 15-130 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of a rubber component, and a content of the amphoteric compound is 0.15-14 parts by mass based on 100 parts by mass of the total of the carbon black and silica. |
