The purpose of the present invention is to improve the reliability of a gas discharge valve of a nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery. A nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery which is provided with: an electrode coil body; a battery can in which the electrode coil body is contained; a battery top cover which seals the battery can; and a gas discharge part that is provided onto the battery top cover. This nonaqueous electrolyte secondary battery is characterized in that: the battery top cover is provided with a gas discharge port; the gas discharge part is provided so as to protrude from the battery top cover toward the electrode coil body; the gas discharge part has a reinforcing material and a gas discharge valve; the battery top cover and the gas discharge part are integrally formed by means of the reinforcing material; the gas discharge valve is provided with a groove; the gas discharge valve is formed within the battery can; and the cross-sectional area of the gas discharge valve is larger than the opening area of the gas discharge port. |
