With regards to content that is distributed directly without passing through a relay server (13), the content distribution system (10) of the present invention prevents a connection from being maintained regardless of whether said content is being executed or not on the device to which said content has been distributed. When a content distribution server (12) is distributing directly-distributed content, the relay server (13) confirms with regards to a content execution device (11) that is the distribution target whether the directly-distributed content is being executed on said content execution device (11). When execution of the directly-distributed content is confirmed, the relay server (13) maintains the connection that is established with the content execution device (11).
