PURPOSE: A broadcasting receiving device capable of controlling internal power supply based on the states of download and playback of VOD and a method thereof are provided to reduce the electricity consumption generated at a set-top box (STB) in a VOD service providing process. CONSTITUTION: A receiving part (110) downloads VOD. A processor (130) plays the VOD. When the download of VOD is completed, the processor blocks power supplied to the receiving part. When the play of the VOD is completed, the processor continues the power supply to the receiving part. The complete of the play of the VOD includes at least one between a case the play of the VOD is completed and a case the play of the VOD is stopped by a command.
