PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-soluble yellow pigment (compound) with high solubility in water, and excellent in ozone gas resistance; and a yellow ink composition for inkjet recording including the pigment.SOLUTION: There is disclosed a water-soluble azo compound expressed by formula (1) or a salt thereof (wherein R represents a 1-4C alkyl group; Q represents a halogen atom; x denotes an integer of 2 to 4; and a sulfo group is located at a or b position).
