<p>The present invention relates to a method for reducing noise in a medical image while maintaining the structural characteristics within the medical image, comprising the steps of: estimating the amount of noise in each pixel using a pre-stored reference table according to the physical properties of an image photographing device; calculating the structural direction and signal cohesiveness in each pixel; performing anisotropic smoothing using an anisotropic smoothing filter kernel for reflecting the structural direction and signal cohesiveness; and reacquiring the structural direction and signal cohesiveness from an anisotropically smoothened image, obtaining the anisotropic smoothing filter kernel for reflecting the reacquired structural direction and signal cohesiveness, and performing filtering for reflecting statistical characteristics of an estimated value for the amount of noise.</p> |
