<p>This sound velocity derivation method derives estimated values of the sound velocities inside of a subject stably and with high accuracy. A phasing processing unit delays each of the received signals generated by piezoelectric elements by delay times calculated on the basis of each of multiple set sound velocities, and phases the received signals for each set sound velocity. A similarity derivation unit derives, for each set sound velocity, a degree of mutual similarity of the received signals which have been phased by the phasing unit. An optimal set sound velocity derivation unit derives, on the basis of the degree of mutual similarity of the received signals of each set sound velocity, an estimated value of the sound velocity inside of the subject as an optimal set sound velocity.</p> |
