A backlight module (1), comprising a light guide plate (10) and a point light source (14). The light guide plate (10) comprises a light inlet surface (106). The backlight module (1) comprises a reflection face (126) adjacent to the light guide plate (10). Light emitted from the point light source (14) reaches the reflection face (126), then is reflected by the reflection face (126) and finally enters the light guide plate (10) through the light inlet surface (106). Further provided is a liquid crystal display device (5) applying the backlight module (1). The backlight module (1) and the liquid crystal display device (5) have the advantages that the dark space deflect of the light guide plate (10) in the light inletting is overcome, and the light-outlet uniformity of the backlight module (1) is improved.
