The invention relates to a method for producing an aqueous acrylamide solution by reacting a composition containing acrylonitrile with water to produce acrylamide, wherein the composition containing acrylonitrile comprises 3 to 15 mg of propionitrile per 1 kg total weight of composition containing acrylonitrile. The invention provides a production method with which it is possible to control acrylamide polymerization without reducing quality and thereby obtain a stable aqueous acrylamide solution.
