PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve necessary angle estimation accuracy with a small device size, while at the same time reducing arithmetic processing load.SOLUTION: A detection and ranging apparatus comprises: a first array including a plurality of sensors; a second array including a plurality of sensors that are not collinear with the sensors of the first array except for a sensor element that defines an origin of a spatial phase; and a signal processing unit. The signal processing unit is configured to generate a plurality of covariance matrices based on reflection waves received by the first and second arrays from a target, and estimate a second angle on the basis of a first angle of the target estimated from a first covariance matrix, and on the basis of a solution of a similarity transformation problem that is constructed from submatrices of a matrix which is obtained by performing triangular decomposition of a product of a generalized inverse matrix of an angle matrix reproduced from an estimated value of the first angle and a second covariance matrix. |
