393,016. Railway sleepers. KRUPP AKT.-GES. FRIEDRICH-ALFRED-HœTTE, F., Rheinhausen, Niederrhein, Germany. Jan. 22, 1932, No. 2018. Convention date, May 15, 1931. [Class 104 (ii).] In an iron sleeper having transverse ribs pressed out of the top of the sleeper adapted to position the rail foot, each rib 3 is formed as a casing closed on all sides except for an opening 12 for insertion of the rail fixing means provided on the side remote from the rail foot, and on that side tapers so that its surfaces 8 run gradually and evenly into the surface of the sleeper. The end surfaces 7 of the ribs preferably also run gradually into the surfaces of the sleeper at the sides. Steep walls 10, 18 in the rib form a bridge 11, in which is cut an elongated hole 12 for insertion of the bolt 13 which, with the clamping plate 17, forms the rail fixing means. The head 14 of the bolt and the corresponding bearing surface of the bridge are formed with a cylindrical or spherical surface. Movement of the clamping plate is prevented by the abutment thereof on the walls 18. |
