The box (1) has an insert (5) arranged in an inner side of the box and exhibiting a shape such that an optimized flow of charging air is provided through the box, where the box is integrally formed as an injection molding or casting part. A curved region (6) is formed between an inlet (2) and an outlet (3) in a flow direction, where the insert is arranged between the curved region and the outlet. The insert and the box are made of plastic or metal, where the insert is stuck welded or clipped with the box. The inlet is connected with a suction pipe. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an air box for an intercooler of a motor vehicle.
