PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a touch detection device and a touch detection method for the device that detect a faint AC signal generated by a human body in an environment where electronic devices are available, and thereby perform touch detection.SOLUTION: The touch detection device according to the present invention includes: a touch detection circuit; a phase delay circuit; and a determination circuit. The phase delay circuit receives an AC touch signal from the touch detection circuit and generates a delay signal by delaying the AC touch signal by a predetermined phase. The determination circuit compares signal intensity of the AC touch signal and signal intensity of the delay signal with a threshold value respectively and thereby acquires a waveform overlapping time. The waveform overlapping time is a time at which a time of a waveform of the AC touch signal greater than the threshold value overlaps with that of a waveform of the delay signal greater than the threshold value. When the waveform overlapping time is greater than prescribed time, the determination circuit determines a conductive unit of the touch detection circuit to be brought into proximity to the human body or be touched by the human body. |
