The sheet guiding device (1) has an area arranged between a transfer position (5) and a printing gap (6), where a sheet (7) is transferred from one cylinder (2) to another cylinder (3). The sheet guiding device is divided in adjacent pressure generating portions (10,20), such that the pneumatic pressure forces are applied on the latter cylinder along the pressure generating portions. The pneumatic pressure forces at the ends (12,22) of the respective pressure generating portions are greater than the pneumatic pressure forces at the top (11,21) of the respective pressure generating portions. Each pressure generating portion has an air nozzle arrangement. An independent claim is included for a method for smoothing a sheet on the latter cylinder of three cylinders by the compressed air in a sheet-processing machine.
