The system has a charging vehicle (1) e.g. commercial vehicle, with a current collector (9), which is brought into sliding contact with a contact line (10) for feeding power from the contact line of a contact line system. A coupling device (2) is electrically coupled at a coupling retainer (5) of an electric vehicle (7). The electric vehicle is provided with an electrical or diesel-electric traction drive and an electrical energy storage for traction supply. The power supplied into the charging vehicle is transferred to the electric vehicle for charging the storage by the coupling device.
