A recording medium reproducing device is disclosed. The device comprises: a driver unit for loading a recording medium when the recording medium in which the video data on multiple frames divided into layers and additional information are recorded is installed; a user interface unit for receiving a trick play command; a video processing unit for processing the video data; and a control unit for selecting a layer to be decoded based on the speed of a trick play determined by the trick play command and the additional information, directing the video processing unit to decode the selected layer, and performing a trick play corresponding to the trick play speed using the decoded data.
