The method involves operating a multimedia device (10) in an operating mode for a case of using a control device (15) e.g. remote control, of the multimedia device and detecting biometric data associable to a data set of the biometric data using a biometric sensor (16) by a detecting device (17). The multimedia device is operated in another operating mode for a case of using the control device and detecting the biometric data different from the data set of the biometric data using the sensor by the detecting device. The data set of the biometric data is stored in a storage device (18).
