The present invention concerns the field of floor cleaning machines such as scrubber-dryers which are equipped with a liquid collection device such as a squeegee chamber for sucking air-entrained liquid from the floor surface. The invention provides a floor cleaning machine (10) having a floor-facing work head (18) which is rotatable about a generally vertical axis (35), which machine is provided with a floor-facing elongate liquid collector (24) which is adapted to swing about a generally vertical axis (35), wherein a fluid conduit extends between the liquid collector and a liquid collection vessel, and a suction motor is provided to draw air-entrained liquid from the liquid collector via the conduit to the collection vessel, wherein a portion of the fluid conduit extending from the liquid collector comprises a rigid generally tubular member (30) which extends in a horizontal direction generally towards the swing axis (35) of the liquid collector and the rigid tubular member is attached at one end region (31,32) directly or indirectly to the liquid collector so as to cantilever therefrom with a distal end (36,37) of the rigid tubular member is disposed above the work head and offset from the work head rotation axis (35) and disposed inside the work head outer circumference and is characterised in that the distal end (36,37)of the rigid tubular member is connected to a flexible tubular conduit (38) which communicates with the collection vessel, the flexible tubular conduit permitting swinging of the distal end (36,37) of the tubular member in response to swinging of the liquid collector (24). In a preferred arrangement said rigid tubular member distal end is disposed at a location (X,Y,W) which is radially spaced from the work head rotation axis less than it is radially spaced from the work head outer circumference.
