[Class 103 (i).] According to one feature of the invention in a vehicle having a clutch servomotor and a brake servomotor utilizing the vacuum in the engine induction pipe, the throttle, clutch, and brake are all controlled by a single member. According to another feature, in a vehicle having separate means for actuating the throttle, clutch, and brake, or having a poweroperated clutch and a power-operated brake, a single driver-operated member when moved in one direction operates the clutch and throttle, and when moved in another direction operates the brake. In the construction, shown in Fig. 1, a clutch pedal 30 can be operated by a servomotor 34 connected by a pipe 40 and valve 38 to the induction pipe 10. The brake pedal 80 can be similarly operated by a servomotor 90 controlled by a valve 96. The valves 38, 96 are operated by a two-part accelerator pedal 22 which also controls the throttle 12. The heel-part 26 of the pedal has an extension 108, Fig. 2, connected by a wire 104 and spring 106 to the brake-controlling valve 96 which is similar to the clutch controlling valve 38, Fig. 4. When the part 26 is depressed by the driver's heel the wire 104 is pulled, thus closing an inner valve 57, Fig. 4, on its seat in an outer valve 62 and moving the latter valve also so as simultaneously to close air ports 60 and open a connection between the servomotor 34 and the induction pipe. The servomotor 34 is thus energized and the brakes applied, this action being assisted by the direct pressure of the part 26 on the brake pedal 80. The spring 106 in the connection between the part 26 and the valve 96 allows further movement of the part 26 after the valve has been operated. The throttle is opened and the clutch engaged by depressing the toe-part 24 of the pedal. In the construction, shown in Fig. 9, the clutch and brake levers 210, 212 are entirely below the footboards, only one control pedal being provided. Modifications are described in which (1) Fig. 6 (not shown), the accelerator pedal is in one piece, its toe-part controlling the throttle and the brake and clutch valves, and its heelpart acting directly on the brake lever ; (2) Fig. 10 (not shown), a single hand-lever is provided with lost-motion connections to the clutch and brake levers so that it first disengages the clutch and then applies the brakes ; (3) Fig. 11 (not shown), the accelerator pedal has no direct mechanical connection with the brakes, but is so situated near the brake pedal that the driver can rest the toes of one foot on the brake pedal and the heel on the heelpart of the accelerator pedal, so that he can simultaneously apply the brakes by direct foot pressure and by power.</p>
