<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device for detecting height balance of developer in a developing container even though not including a plurality of permeability sensors, and suppressing deterioration of the developer while suppressing an image defect caused by unbalancing of the developer in the container. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: the developing container 31 in which the developer containing toner and carrier is stored; a screw 36 which is driven to rotate to stir and convey the developer stored in the developing container 31; the sensor 43 which detects permeability of the developer within a predetermined range in the developing container 31; and a controller 300 which decides whether or not drive of the screw 36 to be performed prior to image forming operation is continued based on an output value of the sensor 43 when the screw 36 is driven before the image forming operation. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
