PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an operating mechanism of a movable body, the forward movement of which is smoothly performed, and which improves silent properties during its movement. SOLUTION: This operating mechanism of the movable body includes a rail member 1 which is provided in the movable body M, and a stopper member 2 which is provided in a body B. The rail member 1 comprises a flat trace lane 10 which continues along the movement direction of the movable body M, and an engagement lane 11 in which a plurality of portions 11a to be engaged are juxtaposed along the movement direction of the movable body M. The stopper member 2 comprises a portion 22 for being brought into sliding contact with the trace lane 10, and a portion 23 for being engaged with the engagement lane 11. The portion 22 is brought into sliding contact with the trace lane 10 in the forward movement of the movable body M, so as to inhibit the engagement of the portion 23 with the engagement lane 11. When the forward movement of the movable body M is stopped, the engagement of the portion 23 with the engagement lane 11 is permitted; and this engagement is released by moving the movable body M backward.
