PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a velocity measuring device (speed gun) precisely measuring the initial velocity and terminal velocity. SOLUTION: The velocity measuring device includes: a microwave Doppler sensor 11; an arithmetic operation part 13 for executing the arithmetic operation based on Doppler signals output from the microwave Doppler sensor; a display part 14 for outputting the result of the arithmetic operation by the arithmetic operation part 13; and a storage device 15. The arithmetic operation part finds a function approximate to a straight line representing the transition of the velocity, finds the initial velocity by calculating the velocity at a ball release point based on the function, and finds the terminal velocity by calculating the velocity at a terminal velocity point.
