<p>An input apparatus for an electronic device is disclosed. According to the embodiment of the present invention, the input apparatus comprises a plurality of buttons assigned to a button area for inputting the buttons; a touch pad in which a touch area is assigned to a pointing area for a pointing function; a filter unit determining the touch area of the touch pad using a touch signal generated from the touch pad; a control unit generating pointing function information when the touch area is arranged to the button area according to the determination result of the filter unit; and a communication unit transmitting the pointing information, the button function information, and the button area function information to the electronic device with radio or infrared rays.
