<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technology for performing dynamic γ processing for achieving successful tone reproduction by applying a γ curve according to detection results of a skin color part and a dark part in an input image. <P>SOLUTION: An image processing apparatus is used, which includes: a histogram detection unit which divides a frame image in an input image signal into a plurality of areas, extracts luminance components in each of the divided areas to create luminance histogram, and extracts a predetermined color component as a skin color to create skin color luminance histogram; a person detection unit which uses the luminance histogram and the skin color luminance histogram to detect whether a person is included in the frame image; a γ curve creation part which creates the γ curve based on detection results by the person detection unit; and a γ conversion unit which applies the γ curve to the frame image to create an output image signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
