A light emitting diode and a method for fabricating the same are provided. The light emitting diode includes a substrate, a buffer layer arranged successively on the substrate, a first conductivity type semiconductor layer, an active layer, and a second conductivity type semiconductor layer. The substrate and the buffer layer comprises voids extended to the substrate and the buffer layer in the interface between the substrate and the buffer layer.
