[Class 106 (iv).] The movable dial or pointer of a spring balance or other machine is connected to its actuating spindle by a number of resilient arms or blade springs, the object being to absorb the momentum of the dial or pointer and thus to avoid damage to the teeth of the driving gearing. As shown in Fig. 4, the dial is in the form of a conical rim 1 connected to its spindle by blade springs 12 free to slide in notches 14 in the rim to permit of the necessary flexing in action.
