PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor unit of an air conditioner, wherein a thermostat for preventing an excessive temperature rise, is set on a proper position, and is easily mounted, and its attachment parts are easily and inexpensively manufactured. SOLUTION: In this outdoor unit of the air conditioner having a defrost heater 15 laid on an outdoor unit base 2, and the thermostat 27 for preventing excessive temperature rise, disposed on the defrost heater 15, the thermostat 27 has a clip 28 clipping an outer periphery of the defrost heater 15 and mounted on the defrost heater 15, and is disposed on an upward rising section 15C of the defrost heater 15, and locked on the thermostat 27 at its locking section 29A disposed at its one end, in the state where a fitting section 29B disposed on the other end side is positioned through a positioning clip 29 fitting to an outer periphery of a horizontal part 15B adjacent to the rising section 15C of the defrost heater 15.
