[Class 81 (i).] A vaporizing or diffusing device comprises one or more containers or carriers for the substance to be vaporized which are disposed outside the normal contour of an electric lamp and are adjacent the latter at a localised portion only of the lamp's circumferential surface and spaced from the axis of the lamp. The containers may be suspended from a stirrup or saddle or may be attached to one or more arms depending from a ring-like portion engaging the lamp or may be formed as an integral part of the lamp's surface. Fig. 1 shows an arrangement in which the container 5 is adjustably mounted on a spring arm 4 attached to the lamp-holder by the usual lamp-shade retaining ring. The inner portion 7 of the container may be shaped to fit the lamp. Shields 34 or 35 may be arranged to direct the vapour in the required direction and prevent splashing. The .carrier may be of the form shown in Fig. 7 to hold a block of solid material. Fig. 9 shows a construction in which two carriers 21 are mounted on the ends of a curved spring clip 22. The clip may also be mounted horizontally as shown at 23. Fig. 10 shows a construction in which the carriers 24 depend from hooks 26 attached to a wire saddle fitting over the bulb. In Fig. 11, the carriers 27 are adjustably mounted on the spring arms 28 of a saddle 29. Fig. 12 shows an arrangement in which the containers 31 and 32 are formed as an integral part of the lamp. Fig. 13 shows a carrier adapted to be mounted on a lamp of elongated form. The containers or carriers may be graduated or may be of variable capacity as shown in Fig. 3 with a screw actuated platform 14 to alter the capacity of the container or feed the material upwards. The arms supporting the carrier may also be graduated to facilitate adjusting the container or carrier at varying distances from the filament of the lamp. |
