The present invention relates to a freeze protection device for a water meter to prevent the temperature of a water meter and a water pipe from falling below a predetermined level by connecting a heating unit, a control unit, and a temperature sensor to the water pipe installed with the water meter. The freeze protection device for a water meter prevents the water meter from freezing and bursting by heating the water pipe and the water meter through an environmentally friendly way using sunlight and solar heat. The freeze protection device for a water meter comprises a heat transfer unit installed on the water pipes at both sides of the water meter to heat the water pipe; the temperature sensor installed on the water pipe to sense the temperature of the water pipe; an output unit to output the conditions of the heat transfer unit and the temperature sensor according to the temperature sensed in the temperature sensor; the control unit to control the temperature sensor, the heat transfer unit, and the output unit using control signals; a solar cell unit connected to the control unit to generate power using sunlight and supply the power to the control unit; and a charging unit connected to the control unit to charge or discharge the power from the solar cell unit and external power applied from the outside using the control signals.
