PURPOSE: A robot cleaner and a control method thereof are provided to correctly sense a hand part of a user with a camera even in case the robot cleaner moves to predetermined direction. CONSTITUTION: A control method of a robot cleaner comprises: a step of sensing one of shape of a hand or movement when a part of the hand is sensed(S21); a step of extracting operation command about operation of the robot cleaner based on one of shape or movement of the hand(S31); and a step of operating the robot cleaner based on the operation command(S40).
