An idle frequency band detection system according to one implementation example of the present invention includes: multiple base stations; multiple cognitive radio (CR) relays which are installed at each region of the base stations and detect channel information of an idle frequency band; and a wireless communication terminal receiving the channel information of the idle frequency band from the CR relays. The idle frequency band detection system according to the present invention prevents the disconnection of a wireless network, and easily detects and uses channel information of an idle frequency band, which is variable for each area and time period, through CR relays without a process of re-searching channels.
