摘要 <p>A method of determining the area size of subpixels in a multi-primary display device for maximizing a white point luminance level is disclosed. The method includes a step of obtaining optical properties of a backlight module and of multi-primary filters for a multi primary display device; a step of obtaining white point chromaticity for a subpixel layout; a step of obtaining a intensity ratio between the color primary and the white point for each primary; a step of representing a luminance level of the multi-primary display device based on obtained data, at the required white point chromaticity, as a set of equations in terms of a relative area size of the subpixels of the multi-primary display device; and a step of solving the set of equations, to yield ratios of area sizes of the subpixels that result in a specified value of luminance at the required white point chromaticity.
