PURPOSE: A composition containing esculetin for suppressing bone loss is provided to suppress osteoclast differentiation and to prevent or treat bone metabolic diseases due to bone loss. CONSTITUTION: A composition for suppressing bone loss contains an esculetin compound of chemical formula 1 or a salt thereof as an active ingredient. The osteoclast formulation is suppressed by suppressing osteoclast differentiation through a mechanism which suppressed NFAT expression. A health functional food for treating bone loss contains the compound or the salt thereof as an active ingredient. The foods are beverage, meats, chocolate, snacks, pizza, ramen, other noodles, gum, candy, ice cream, alcohol beverage, vitamin complex, or health supplement foods. |
