408,169. Roller bearings. AKTIEBOLAGET SVENSKA KULLAGERFABRIKEN, 17, Artillerigatan, Gothenburg, Sweden. Oct. 24, 1933, No. 29492. Convention date, March 4. [Class 12 (i).] A roller bearing comprises inner and outer races 1, 2 adapted to house two rows of rollers 3, 4 having curved profiles and the race ring profile conforming with those of the rollers. A loose guide ring 9 is positioned between the rows and its width is greater than the distance that would separate the rows of rollers if they were subjected to radial load and unrestricted by the guide ring. The guide ring thus exerts a side thrust on each row of rollers. The guide ring may be employed in bearings of the self-aligning type in which case the outer race may be of the spherical type. The rollers may have any curved profile and the curve may have a centre that is offset from the plane at right angles to the axis and midway between the ends of the roller. The contacting surfaces between the guide ring and the rollers may be flat, chamfered or spherical. The rollers may have point or line contact with the races.
|
