PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently track a moving object.SOLUTION: An imaging apparatus comprises: imaging means which has a first imaging mode of performing reading from the entire pixel range of an imaging device and a second imaging mode of performing reading from a partial pixel range of the imaging device; detection means which detects a moving object from an image obtained in the first imaging mode; measurement means which measures the moving speed of the moving object; and control means which controls reading frequency in the second imaging mode, in accordance with the moving speed of the moving object.
