PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus for machining fine recessed parts and a method for machining fine recessed parts by which both the reduction of facility costs and shortening of a machining time can be achieved as well as a function provided to form the fine recessed parts uniformly even when the surface hardness of a workpiece is partially different.SOLUTION: An apparatus for machining fine recessed parts is provided with: a roller pressing mechanism 2 which presses a machining roller 1 having an uneven surface for forming the fine recessed parts on a workpiece W to form the fine recessed parts; a load detection means 4 which detects the pressing force of the machining roller 1 by the roller pressing mechanism 2; an information detection means 5 which detects information M for determining the surface hardness preliminarily imparted to the workpiece W; and a control means 6 which controls the pressing force of the machining roller 1 by the roller pressing mechanism 2 based on respective detection signals of the load detection means 4 and the information detection means 5.
