The present invention relates to a cathode unit for a battery, characterized in that the cathode comprises a viscoelastic, polymeric gel former selected from the group consisting of natural polysaccharides having a proportion of carboxylate or carboxylic acid groups of greater than or equal to 0.5 and less than or equal to 2.0 based on the number of monomer units. The invention further relates to a process for producing the cathode units and the use of a battery having the cathode unit of the invention for energy supply. |
