The method involves defining two modulation frequencies by which distance determination is carried out and determining a phase shift of an emitted or received signal for each of the two selected modulation frequencies, while determining a distance value (d) using the measured phase shifts. A further modulation frequency is determined based on predetermined selection rules, taking into account the last two modulation frequencies. A further phase shift is determined for further modulation frequency. The distance value is determined from last two measured phase shifts. An independent claim is included for a light-time camera system.
