PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electromagnetic switch that monitors whether or not a movable contactor is in contact with a pair of fixed contactors.SOLUTION: An electromagnetic switch includes: a pair of fixed contactors 6a and 6b that are fixedly arranged at a predetermined interval in a contact housing case and that are interposed in a direct current path; a movable contactor 11 that is disposed so as to be movable close to and away from the pair of fixed contactors 6a and 6b; an electromagnet unit that moves the movable contactor 11; a pair of capacitors 42A and 42B that are separately connected to the respective fixed contactors 6a and 6b; a resistor 43 that is connected to respective second ends of the capacitors 42A and 42B; and a contact state detecting section 41 that detects impedance on both ends of the resistor 43 so as to detect an open state in which the movable contactor faces the fixed contactors 6a and 6b with a gap in between and a closed state in which the movable contactor is in contact with the fixed contactors 6a and 6b.
