PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new system and method for detecting and tracking the movement of (1 or multiple) fingers on a capacitance sensing type touch pad.SOLUTION: In a method for detecting and tracking the gesture of a single finger or multiple fingers, the gesture, called, edge swipe gesture starting with the edge of a touch sensor is discriminated from the normal operation of the touch sensor such as cursoring. This edge swipe gesture leads to the generation of detection and tracking data having an instantaneous change. On the other hand, the finger's touchdown or movement toward the edge of the touch sensor or its following separation from the edge leads to the generation of data different from the data to be generated by the edge swipe gesture. |
