PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively reduce power consumption of a display device by performing optimal control adapted for the contents of a display video and a viewing scene.SOLUTION: A display device 1 comprises: a liquid crystal drive unit 3 which line-sequentially selects and scans a line of each pixel of a liquid crystal panel 2 through a plurality of scan signal lines, and supplies a data signal to the pixel of the selected line from a data signal line to drive a liquid crystal; and a drive cycle control unit 6 which controls a drive cycle of the liquid crystal by the liquid crystal drive unit 3. The drive cycle control unit 6 has, as a drive cycle of the liquid crystal, a scan period in which a screen of the liquid crystal panel 2 is scanned once through the plurality of scan signal lines, and a pause period in which the scan is suspended. When the sum of the scan period and the pause period is defined as one vertical period and a predetermined condition is satisfied, the display device 1 reduces the length of the scan period, and in the pause period, stops at least the operation of an analog circuit that is irrelevant to display in the pause period in an analog circuit unit 32 of the liquid crystal drive unit 3. |
